Spring Literacy Connection
We have recently received a large number of new books and series in our library. You are going to love these page-turning favorites! Please read the reviews below to find the right series for your child.
If you loved Diary of a Wimpy Kid, you might like the Origami Yoda series by Tom Angleberger. This series is comprised of six titles: Darth Paper Strikes Back, Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus, Princess Labelmaker to the Rescue!, The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee, The Strange Case of the Origami Yoda, and The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppett. The Origami Yoda series focuses on sixth-grader Tommy and his friends. It is rumored that the origami puppets can predict the future! These books also include instructions for making your very own origami creations. This series is very popular with 3rd – 5th grade students.
If you’re looking for something silly, the My Weird School Daze series written by Dan Gutman is right for you! This series is made up of ten books about the weirdest school in history! The characters are in third grade and tell all about their adventures with their nutty teachers at Ella Mentry School. Get ready to laugh a lot as you work your way through this series! These books are perfect for 2nd – 4th grade students.
The Babymouse series by Jennifer L. Holm has been wildly popular so far at West View! This series is made up of 19 graphic novels that depict the main character, Babymouse, a mouse with a very active imagination! These books will make you laugh and hold your attention as you fly through the pages! If you haven’t already, check out Babymouse in our library! It is a great series for students in 1st – 3rd grades.
A BIG thank you to our PTO for their hard work running the spring Book Fair and for their donation of new books and materials to our library. We would also like to like our reading tutors for taking time out of their schedules to work with our students! Thank you for all that you do for our school!
Happy Reading,
